11/9/23 New PhoTO from original Pickup - one of Only 600 Coupe 427/400 Tripower produced

My Story - Background on vehicle

By far the one that needs the most work. The body and frame is in Arizona at Ron’s place, the Tranny is in Aztec, New Mexico with a friend of Ron’s. He is the guy that rebuilt it and we just have not picked it up. Nothing is owed; we just haven’t got around to picking it up. Ron would have to help you on this one. The engine is here in the garage and the intake with the carbs is inside the house. The seats and some large interior part are in the Cypress garage (overhead storage).

This car is the most original classic Vette I have. It’s highly optioned with the tri-power (three 2 barrel carburetors) 400hp, 427ci engine, 4-sp manual tranny, Power Brakes, Steering and Windows, Headrests, Tinted Glass, speed control and a Telescoping Steering Column.

Because of the condition of this one’s body, it will take a lot of money and time to get to a driver condition.

Roger found out about this car from someone at his work. It was setting out in a corral with the original engine out and a different (396) engine in it. The original engine came with the car but I did not know its condition. The 396, was not running and looked pretty sad. I paid $7,500 for this car in 1991 and Roger and I brought it home. It had scrap tires and rims on it. I changed them out while getting the 396 fired up and cleaning up the body. I was surprised that the body cleaned up a well as it did (I have pictures) and the 396 engine ran. The 396 needed to be rebuilt, so I pulled it. Later Ron sold it for $600. I gave the original 427 long block to Steve C to be rebuilt; I think this was is 1992!! If I find the receipts I will verify the date.

This is a late built car, May 1968. Again, because of its options it will make someone a great Corvette. Ron has talked of bring the body and frame out to Texas. Once here I’ll assess what we should do.

I was stupid not to take pictures of this in the corral! It certainly was what is called a barn find and if documented it could add a little value. Story of my life!
